New Zealand Food Connection 2016 https://goodindonesianfood.com/new-zealand-food-connection-2016/ https://goodindonesianfood.com/new-zealand-food-connection-2016/#respond Tue, 17 May 2016 04:00:21 +0000 https://goodindonesianfood.com/?p=3307 The Dharmawangsa Jakarta played host to a world-class food-and-beverage exhibition showcasing the best in New Zealand’s delicacies and wines. Held by the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise – or NZTE – New Zealand Food Connection 2016 was also organised in order to provide a networking opportunity between both local and New Zealand businesses.
A number of top-drawer manufacturers from the country that gave us the beautiful setting for the “Lord Of The Rings” trilogy were on display during the event, including Sealord, the leading distributor of fresh and frozen seafood; The Dollop Kitchen Brand with its premium ready-to-eat products such as Frozen Cheesecake and Freeze Thaw Desserts; and Babich Wine, which is a renowned family company that has been in the wine business since 1916. Other names that took part in the one-day expo were Charlie, Fonterra Brands, Kim Crawford, Manuka Honey, Pure South, New Zealand Dessert Company, Villa Maria Estate, Wattie’s, Wither Hills, and Whittaker’s.
The trade commissioner for New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Indonesia, Tim Anderson, was in attendance, and he elaborated on main attraction behind the trade fair. “Indonesian customers are concerned and focused more towards healthy and organic food. They also appreciate a special atmosphere during dining. On top of that, they also love premium products. New Zealand products offer a range of nutritive and tasty packages that fit their preferences, and they are all prepared by way of a safe and hygienic method,” he says.

Going Global https://goodindonesianfood.com/going-global/ https://goodindonesianfood.com/going-global/#respond Mon, 16 May 2016 07:00:13 +0000 https://goodindonesianfood.com/?p=3303 The third edition of World Street Food Congress (WSFC) 2016, held from April 20-24, finally came to an end, and what a soiree it was. Organised by KF Seetoh – the founder of Makansutra group Singapore – in collaboration with the Philippines Department of Tourism, Tourism Promotions Board Philippines, Ayala Malls, and Bonifacio Global City, the event hosted 24 street food vendors from Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, the USA, and Thailand.
Among the 24 stalls, there were four Indonesian street food vendors that participated in WSFC 2016: Sate Maranggi Haji Yetty, Ayam Taliwang Bersaudara, Martabak Kota Barat (Makobar), and Warung Sunset Bbq Ribs Bali. As firm supporters of our culinary heritage, it was a delight to see our home-grown stalls becoming the most popular amongst all during the five-day jamboree, especially when Bali’s Warung Sunset was announced as achieving the record of selling 2,000 portions per day.
A total of 73,000 visitors descended upon the conference, which was held at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Manila. According to KF Seetoh, the great response from the general public proved that street food should never be underestimated.
